Alone by Lisa Gardner

Just as i thought i had it figured out.... it turned out to be something NASTY .... ewwwww lol

It was an OK book but not her best in my opinion

From Booklist

It was bad enough that Catherine Gagnon survived a horrible childhood abduction where for a month she lived in a cave and was the plaything for her sicko abductor. But now, 25 years later, she faces tragedy again as she fights to keep her son, Nathan. One chilly November night, a police sniper kills her husband, Jimmy, in response to her 911 call claiming he was about to hurt Nathan. Jimmy's death means that his parents, an influential judge and his blue-blooded wife, are more determined than ever to take Nathan from Catherine, whom they see as unfit to mother their only grandchild. True, the birth of Nathan mentally paralyzed Catherine, who could not get past the memories of her abduction and her emotionally absent parents. But is she really the monster the Gagnons and their PI make her out to be? Massachusetts state police special-ops officer Bobby Dodge, the sniper who took out Jimmy, doesn't think so, and unwittingly falls under the spell of the manipulative widow. A twisted, effective psychological thriller. Mary Frances WilkensCopyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved

On another note: i came home yesterday to see my Amazon order sitting on the porch. Doesn't take much to make me happy. LOL
My parents came in from Baton Rouge late last night. I now have my very own Pooky (from Garfield) its just so darn cute.

As for my next read, I started reading "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde. Ive been hearing good things about it lately so i thought i'd give it a try.

"Patiently waiting"

NOT!!!!!!!!!

so i just read the March book (Society-Page Seduction) of the Silhouette Desire Dynasty Series: The Ashtons. Now i want the rest of the dang year.

The Dynasties are my guilty pleasure. I just love to read all about a big family. I love it when stories just keep on going and all the characters pop up in each book. Could be why i love Stephanie Laurens and Mary Balogh so much. I believe Laurens has about 17 books in her Cynster series (i could be wrong) and she got 3 in her Bastion Club series. Mary Balogh had the Bedwyn Series but also 2 "prequels" to the series too. Balogh has another spinoff coming out now about a teacher and her school that was mentioned in the Bedwyn series.

Series: love'em love'em love'em... thats all i can say.

Unfulfilled and my Next Read

Stranger in the House by Patricia MacDonald.

While she is a favorite of mine, this book wasnt. Maybe if i read it closer to the time it was originally published it wouldnt have been so bad. I just felt like i'd heard the story line too many times. Kidnapped/Missing Child returns after 11 years.... blah blah blah... Just kept remembering Deep End of the Ocean. I also feel the story was cut a tad short. What happened when Iris told Edward her "secret". Ok so Iris wasnt really a main character but I think i still would have liked to find out what happened "after" the story broke in the news.

It could just be because i like Law & Order and CSI too dang much... i wanna be like Paul Harvey and know "the rest of the story." LOL

I think my next read is going to be: "Alone" by Lisa Gardner. I've had it sitting in the living room for the past week and its a library book that i know someone else is waiting for. (since i do the reserves at the library... LOL)

My weekend and Next Read: Stranger in the House by Patricia MacDonald

Its may sound pretty bad but i always seem to get more reading done when I visit my boyfriend for the weekend. LOL
I mean i finished reading The Good, The Bad and the Undead by Harrison and completely read Through Violet Eyes by Woodworth and almost finished Stranger in the House by Patricia MacDonald. I also bought 2 books when i was down there too (With Red Hands by Woodworth and Shall We Dance? by Kasey Michaels).

Now if i could only find Jane Feather's new book.... im not even sure if its out yet... Almost a Bride)

Ive also found out that Stephanie Laurens has a new one coming out too. Its a spin off of the Bedwyn series. Its about the teacher's at a Women's school in Bath (if im not mistaken).

after i finish Stranger in the House, i think im gonna start Drop Dead Blonde. Its an anthology of mystery/humorous authors including Elaine Viets and Victoria Laurie. Can't Wait but now that i remember i do have a library book i need to read so i might start that next.... Alone by Lisa Gardner.

Next Read : Through Violet Eyes by Stephen Woodworth

UPDATE 3-13-05:

i dont know why i waited so long to read this book. I bought it a couple months ago and let my mom read it.
It was sooooo good.... when i came back from wilmington i stopped at Target and bought the second book "With Red Hands."

Blurb on the book:
In a world where the dead can testify against the living, someone is getting away with murder. Because to every generation are born a select few souls with violet-colored eyes, and the ability to channel the dead. Both rare and precious—and rigidly controlled by a society that craves their services—these Violets perform a number of different duties. The most fortunate increase the world's cultural heritage by channeling the still-creative spirits of famous dead artists and musicians. The least fortunate aid the police and the law courts, catching criminals by interviewing the deceased victims of violent crime.

But now the Violets themselves have become the target of a brutal serial murderer—a murderer who had learned how to mask his or her identity even from the victims. Can the FBI, aided by a Violet so scared of death that she is afraid to live, uncover the criminal in time? Or must more of her race be dispatched to the realm that has haunted them all since childhood?

Next Read: The Good, The Bad and The Undead by Kim Harrison

I just started this one on Friday but have only been able to read a few chapters for now.

I just read one of the quotes on the cover of the book. Jim Butcher related these books to a mixture of Anita Blake and Stephanie Plum. After reading the first book, i think i agree with him.
